About
Vikki Paschetto graduated in 1999 from the Edinburgh college of Art with a BA Hons degree in Performance costume design and construction.
She has since travelled extensively in Europe and Asia, working continuously: researching, designing and creating costumes for the theatre, film, television and wearable arts exhibitions, where she could grow professionally and creatively in these areas, whilst living and improving her languages based in the UK, Spain, Italy and Hong Kong.
Each country has seen her work in a different sector of Costuming from her own solo wearable arts projects and her role as researcher for her first feature film with Oliver Stone's Alexander in Madrid, to working with the Costume squad in a design/ construction team for television films for Hong Kong and Taiwan. She then went on to create bespoke bridal and headdress creations in Hong Kong and Italy to coming full circle and designing/creating for various Theatre projects in the UK.
During this time she has built her experience working on costumes, masks, hats and headdresses from the very initial designs to the pattern cutting, fabric sourcing, make-up of the garment to the finishing of the piece with accessories.
As well as working with conventional produced materials, Vikki enjoys pushing boundaries in costuming, so that the garments become more wearable art pieces. She has extensive experience in creating her own fabrics, from felting, knitting, papier-mache, working with resin for jewellery and trimmings, and even trained with the Museum of Edinburgh's taxidermy department to learn techniques on preserving fish skins for a costume.
Vikki has recently relocated to a new home and studio in Los Angeles after spending two years in New York, where from arriving in November 2005 she worked consistently costuming plays for Shalimar productions for the Sell-out and Fringe festival and a dance production for the Polaris North theatre company. During her time in New York she continued to create bespoke pieces for a high-end lingerie company as well as venturing into the world of visual display.
Aside from the theatrical realm, Vikki also keeps closely in touch with the fashion world, working frequently as a production assistant during the New York fashion weeks.
When not creating she can often be found following her circus dream, swinging 25 ft off the ground on the flying trapeze and training with an aerial arts school.
Currently Vikki is collaborating on bespoke garment projects with Erotic luxury boutique Coco de Mer and her pieces can be found in the L.A and London stores.
